The town has a poverty rate of over 40% and has faced challenges such as lack of employment opportunities and high crime rates. Below are excerpts from four user reviews on BestPlaces.net from people who have lived in Pine Ridge, sharing their experiences and opinions on living in this particular place.

1) "I grew up in Pine Ridge and it's definitely a tough place to live. The poverty and crime rates are high, and there's not much in terms of job opportunities. But the sense of community and strong ties to Native American culture make it unique. It's a place where everyone knows each other and looks out for one another." - Sarah C.

2) "I moved to Pine Ridge for work and it was a culture shock for me. The town is isolated and lacks amenities like a grocery store or gas station. The reservation has its own set of issues, but the people here are resilient and welcoming. It's a great place to learn about Lakota culture and history." - John D.

3) "I've lived in Pine Ridge my whole life and it's a tough place to grow up. The schools are underfunded and there's not much to do for entertainment. But the natural beauty of the Black Hills and Badlands make up for it. And the tight-knit community is like a big family." - Lisa S.

4) "I moved to Pine Ridge for a job opportunity and it's been a challenging but rewarding experience. The poverty and crime rates are high, but there are also many dedicated individuals and organizations working to make positive changes. The Oglala Sioux Tribe has a strong presence here and it's been an honor to learn about their culture and traditions." - David L.
